The CPD team worked closely with GP facilitators, education committees, and partner organisations across the region to develop activities that met the new RACGP requirements and incorporated opportunities for fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange. The PHN’s CPD team informed GPs about these requirements and continued to support them to achieve their required hours of education.
The PHN’s education program consists of Continuing Professional Development activities, Peer Group Learning, in-practice training in domestic and family violence, the GROW project, nurse education, cultural awareness training and commissioned training.
The majority of events are run as online webinars as this format is the preferred method for event attendees. The number of face-to-face events increased this year, allowing for hands-on practical sessions, interactive discussions with specialists and the opportunity to network and connect with peers, experts, and industry leaders. The Antenatal Shared Care updates in partnership with the Royal Hospital for Women has been run as a hybrid event for the third year in a row.

Peer Group Learning
The Peer Group Learning (PGL) program continued to provide another professional development avenue in 2023-24. This learning format promotes a more in-depth understanding of a topic and allows GPs to share their own experiences and knowledge with specialist speakers and peers in a small group learning environment.
The program is popular with many GPs returning to partake in the program, year on year, and a variety of new faces as well. A total of 136 GPs were enrolled in the program in 13 groups. 135 sessions were run with 97 of these online and 38 face-to-face.
